Will Hulu Start Charging For Services?

Noooo. I always wondered how Hulu.com makes their site profitable (if they, in fact, do) but never gave it TOO much thought as I was busy enjoying all of the free video and television show content that they provide. In fact, since I came across Hulu last year I really thought that it would be the next big thing to hit the internet. It’s different than social sites like Facebook and Twitter but in my opinion, equally if not more valuable to users.

So… understandably, when I heard rumors today of Hulu.com preparing to start charging a fee for their services I was quite disappointed (if not entirely surprised, I mean they do have to make bank too). While it’s not official yet, a board member has confirmed that they are strongly considering moving to a subscription based model. So, if you’re a Hulu fan, enjoy the free content while it lasts!

Digg Lets Users Vote On Ads

Well, I gotta say that the people at Digg sure are adventurous, especially with a new advertising model that they are testing out. The new model (which will be slowly introduced) puts advertiser’s blurbs in the same area as new stories. And similar to the new stories that appear on Digg, users will either be able to “Digg” the add or give it the old thumbs down.

So, advertisers who aren’t liked will be quickly pushed down the page, and advertisers that are “dugg” will get to stick around a little longer. Also, Digg will charge less money via CPC to advertisers that their user base votes up. Now understandably, this new model could be a slippery slope for many advertisers so Digg is implementing it slowly to test the results.

ShopWiki Is A Big Help For Those Who Love To Shop Online

Whenever I’m considering the purchase of a new electronic item, I start buy going on the internet and looking for the cheapest price I can find on said item. It’s simply way more convenient than driving from store to store looking for the best price (gas is expensive), and of course calling around often doesn’t provide reliable information. The problem with online shopping usually is that there are so many places selling electronic items that it can take a long time to find the product I want at a price I can afford.

With that in mind, I suggest visiting a website called ShopWiki which can make online shopping much easier and, in turn, a more enjoyable overall experience. ShopWiki provides a very useful service to the online shopper because they feature a large variety of products from different web stores, and allow the user to find the pertinent information relating to these stores in one central location (the ShopWiki website). ShopWiki is able to do this as they make use of search spiders to locate the products and then consumers are able to search the ShopWiki website to quickly locate the information they want.

Thankfully, the ShopWiki website is very user friendly, and has a large range of electronic products, so whether you’re looking for the best prices on the latest Video Games, such as Halo 2, or Prince Of Persia, or perhaps even a new video game console, you’ll be able to see the prices and models offered by a variety of online merchants quickly through ShopWiki. I myself have been seeking some new Xbox 360 games to add to my video game collection, and found that the selection of quality merchants that I found through ShopWiki was excellent.

Google Chrome Refreshes

Avid users of Google’s Chrome web browser should be pleased today as the company has released an updated version of the browser which promises to be quicker, include more security features, and be generally more stable than the previous version. What’s also cool is if you’re using Chrome already you don’t even need to do anything to update, as Google will have the browsers automatically update to the new version in approximately three weeks. Of course, if you’d like to try the new version out pronto you can find it on the Chrome homepage.

Personally, I’m excited to give the new version (which is being called “Chrome Two”) by many a try, as anything that crashes less is a good thing in my book. Especially considering I use FireFox and while I love it, it is prone to crash on me several times a day. The only bad news is for Mac users as Google has still not released a version for them. Apparently a Mac version is in the works though!

Google Combines Search and Email

Google has combined its email application and search functions, and not a moment too soon. Instead of switching between applications, which is time consuming and annoying, now the apps are integrated. In essence, a user can turn on the feature in the “Labs” part of “Settings,” and a small search field will appear in the left-hand section of the page.

They can then type in a search term and the Google search results will show up in a pop-up window on top of the pages. Clicking a link will cause a new window or tab to open up with that web page. This is handy and you can paste URLs straight into the e-mail or chat directly.

Facebook to Adopt New Policy

Facebook is going to be run by new rules despite a recent vote that didn’t meet the required minimum necessary for the change. The revised rules say that users will be the owners of their data. An earlier endeavor to make the alterations had resulted in user discombobulation and objections regarding personal data rights. The vote exceeded a figure of 600,000+, with three-quarters were for the alterations.

This is a relatively insignificant number when compared to the 200 million user base. To actually count, the vote should have been 100 times bigger, but the turnout was low. I suppose Facebook could have done a better job of advertising the issue will be up for an online vote.

Computer File Extensions and Repair

When a computer displays an error message it is hard not to feel frustrated or angry. It is a good thing that there is software that is able to conduct a diagnosis of computer bugs as well as offering an automated solution for a fix. One computer problem that is quite common is with file extension errors, such as with the file extension PAC. PAC extension files are image formats used by different applications and systems, such as Atari, and can cause computer errors at times.

When file extension PAC or a different file extension are causing problems, try a software called Driver Detective. The software can be downloaded for free on fileextensionpac.com. The site offers some good information on file extension PAC and you can use the software to scan for computer drivers and related files that require an update. After conducting the scan, the software will provide you with a comprehensive list of files that require an update and offer to fix those issues so the computer can run smoothly once again. Driver Detective has been able to help many users with their computer problems and you too may wish to give it a try on your computer.
