Digg Lets Users Vote On Ads

Well, I gotta say that the people at Digg sure are adventurous, especially with a new advertising model that they are testing out. The new model (which will be slowly introduced) puts advertiser’s blurbs in the same area as new stories. And similar to the new stories that appear on Digg, users will either be able to “Digg” the add or give it the old thumbs down.

So, advertisers who aren’t liked will be quickly pushed down the page, and advertisers that are “dugg” will get to stick around a little longer. Also, Digg will charge less money via CPC to advertisers that their user base votes up. Now understandably, this new model could be a slippery slope for many advertisers so Digg is implementing it slowly to test the results.
